Joint sovereign petition dated 12 November 2015 objecting to the Trans-Pacific Partnership (TPP). Signed by Polynesian and allied Indigenous sovereigns: Aliʻi Nui Aleka Aipoalani (Atooi), Ariki Nui Hotu Matua Tuki Tepano (Rapa Nui), Ariki Nui Puni Tairua (Bora Bora), Ariʻi Nui Jean Parau Ioane Tauaea (Australes), and the Heir of Nathaniel Lee Costello "Thunderheart" (Lakota / Omaha). Key objections: Investor-State Dispute Settlement (ISDS) overriding indigenous and national sovereignty; U.S. "fast-track" authority bypassing legislative review; expansion of copyright and patent monopolies; and inadequate climate framing.
